#202: Kaikado Café

A cafe produced by Kaikado, Japan’s oldest handmade tea caddy maker, in business since 1875 (Year 8 of the Meiji Era).
The building the cafe is in is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, as designated by the Japanese Government.

The handmade tea caddies – “chazutsu”.

Cold potato soup with focaccia bread.

Kaikado cheesecake.

Kaikado blend coffee.
Of course, you can have high quality Japanese tea here as well.

A cafe and accommodation in a machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse), run by a friendly Australian.

A latte.

Jaffles (Aussie term for toasties) with salad.

#199: FORUM KYOTO

Located in Kiyamachi, the night time centre of Kyoto, I always came here for a night coffee. This was the one time I came during the day, for the sake of photos.

Espresso bar on the ground floor.

An alcoholic bar on the next landing.

#197: Tsugumi Cafe

A cafe amongst rice and vegetable fields.

Omelette rice with a side of salad.

Lunch of the week: green shiso and chicken meatballs, marinated tomatoes and sliced onion, aubergine and capsicum stir-fry, mixed-grain rice, miso soup, orange juice jelly, tea.

Iced coffee and orange juice.
